Content and Structure

 

In this section, you will learn how to:

After logging into the Management System, navigate your way to the content area you want to edit by clicking the arrow next to the Home button and selecting the site from the menu. In the example below, we are using „www.axinom.com“.

Adding a structure element

To enter the editing mode, select the Edit tab from the tabbed menu at the bottom left of the page:

Beneath the existing content, a four-button menu will become available for each content placeholder on the page:

The four buttons represent the objects that can be added to the page.  From left to right these are:

  • Images            
  • Text  
  • Flash movies
  • Elements           

Click on the right most button, the element button, in the four-button menu:

The following Silverlight ribbon will appear at the top of the page:

The left-most Silverlight ribbon menu item represents an Image(left) – Text element. Select this item from the list:

A corresponding element is added to the current page. The element contains two icons, representing the placeholders for an image and text to be entered into the element:

Click on the text icon inside the Image (left) – Text element:   

 

A text box will open on the page. Enter your text into this text box:

If your prefer, you can choose to work using the Classic Editor. This option is available on the right side of the upper menu bar:

If you choose the Classic Editor mode, it will be loaded in a new pop-up window. You will be able to add and edit new text with the already familiar text editing tools:

After you have inserted the text using the Classic Editor, save the changes by clicking Check in. By checking the text in, you give permission to other users to edit and publish the text.

The pop-up window will be closed and your text is added to the page.


Inserting a new image

Position your mouse pointer over the image icon inside the Image (left) – Text element:

A corresponding Silverlight ribbon with thumbnail pictures of available images will appear at the top of the page:

You can scroll through the available images by clicking on the arrows to the left and right of the displayed images.

Choose an image from the thumbnail list and it will be added to the page. 

You can also select an image from the list of all images by clicking the All Images… button.

When you click the All Images... button, a pop-up containing the list of all images is opened.

You can also create a new image using this pop-up.

Click the New button located on the left side of the pop-up.

The pop-up is refreshed and the DocumentDetail page is loaded. Here you can upload a new image to the system.

You can search your computer or network for a desired image by clicking Browse. Choose an image and click Upload.

Use the preview box to check the image. If the image is acceptable, save and close the window by clicking Save.

After saving the image, you will return to the list with all images that are present in your Management System. The newly uploaded image is marked as bold. Select it by clicking on the select icon. (If you want to change something in the image, you can upload a new or changed image by clicking the Edit icon, and then browsing and uploading an image.)

The image will be added to the page in the Management System.  However, it is still not visible in the Live System.

In order for the image to become visible in the Live System, you have to publish your changes. This process is started by using the Publish button, located under the Tools tab of the upper menu bar. 

Once you click Publish, a new pop-up with dependencies will be opened.

This is due to the fact that the image itself is not published yet. To publish the image, select the checkbox next to the name of the image that was added and click Publish.

After the image is published, the page will be automatically published as well.

The changes made on the page and the added picture are now visible in the Live System.



Using Copy & Paste functionality

Since AxCMS.net version 9.2 you can easily copy & paste content and structure elements.

Content such as texts and images as well as structure elements can be copied and pasted while editing a page with 2 clicks.

1. Move your cursor over the content that should be copied until the 5-button context menu is shown and click on the copy icon.
    If no context menu is shown, make sure your Edit tab is active.




2.  Click on the active, red colored, paste icon where you would like to insert the copied content or element.




Move the pasted content or element to the desired position, if necessary, by using the up or down arrows.




Using anchor functionality

Linking to anchors is very similar to normal links. Normal links always point to the top of a page. Anchors point to a place within a page.

A # in front of a link location specifies that the link is pointing to an anchor on a page. (Anchor meaning a specific place in the middle of your page).

To link to an anchor you need to:

  • Create a link pointing to the anchor
  • Create the anchor itself.

Edit some text, usually it's a headline of some paragraph. Click on the Anchor button and insert your anchor name into the text field.



Deleting an element with texts and images

Below you find a structure element Image (left) – Text with an image and text. You can also identify it by moving the mouse over it.

To delete this structure element, click the Delete icon (the X) while in edit mode.

You will be asked to confirm the deletion. Once you have confirmed to delete the selected object, the image and text are removed from the page.
